a couple of my tree vases,, they look like they are watching you and acting wierd . huh... I enjoy making these guys. they have such character and expression... kinda goofy I make them in different sizes and colors. of course with the woodgrain look.

just checking in

thought I would add a few more pictures . I havent made many things this week a couple of rufftons . I am cleaning out a storage building for a place to put my finished pieces so I can see what I have made. Kinda hard to tell if its all packed up....
I made this vase a couple of weeks ago, It turned out ok,it has a cowboy kid sitting on a fence on other side and a horse rearing up on it too all carved in before firing....

Rufftons, my forest friends

Introducing my little forest friends. these are my weakness, I really enjoy doing these little fellows. when I first started them I wanted to do something as a tribute to all my elders, my parents, my grandparents and uncles and aunts that have passed on, when I was a child we played in the woods surrounding my grandparents home.My cousins, my brother, nephew & niece had rather play in the woods (pretending to be in forts, castles and rodeo arenas ) than playing with expensive toys. We played everywhere, in the creeks, and up in the trees. Imagine these little gnome like forest friends watching and keeping an eye on us. It takes an imagination and as you can see I am full of imagination.. I was raised and still live at the same place in Rutherfordton, I call these little guys RUFFTONS short for our home town. keep an eye out for these popping up around town.

two of my vases ,
I really like the large one ,
I think it is one of the best pieces
that I have ever thrown.
A slabbed platter done in cowboy colors... I think its pretty cool.

FUNCTIONAL STONEWARE

Introducing My Pottery

I have been hard at work making pottery for upcoming show @Shelby in November. (Carolina Pottery Festival). I have worked really hard making pieces that I considered good enough for an all pottery show. There are a lot of talented artist out there and I feel priviledged to be able to show my things with them.I have worked on different kinds of things, but I have decided to make what I like best COWBOY RELATED STUFF and I also make gnomes that I call RUFFTONS named after my home town of Rutherfordton. I enjoy them all and would really appreciate any feedback as to how others feel about them.... My new colors for functional ware are unique and I plan to do a complete line of these colors so people can purchase them at different times and eventually have a set of them.
